Maintenance & Precautions

HOW TO ENSURE YOUR CANDLE BURNS EFFICIENTLY AND SAFELY

Essential safety measures to keep in mind when using our candles to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience:

1. Trim the wick

Always trim the wick to about 1/4 inch  or 6mm before lighting. This helps prevent soot build-up and ensures a clean, even burn. Trimming the wicks is also key to safety, about ¼ inch or 6 mm. Cut vertically and straight across, not at an angle.

2. Allow for Full Melt Pool

The first time you light your candle, let it burn until the entire surface melts edge to edge. This prevents tunneling and promotes an even burn through future uses.

3. Avoid drafts

Place your candle in a draft-free area to prevent uneven burning and excess smoking. Drafts can cause the flame to flicker and burn irregularly but ensure enough airflow.

4. Proper Extinguishing

Use a candle snuffer, candle lid if available or gently blow out the flame instead of blowing forcefully (which can cause hot wax to splatter.)  This minimizes soot and keeps the wick in good condition.

5. Regular Cleaning

Keep the candle free from any debris, such as wick trimmings or matches, to ensure a clean burn. By following these simple steps, you can enjoy the full ambiance and longevity of your Sophisticated candles, enhancing the elegance and style of your space.

6. Placement

Always place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable objects and materials like curtains or paper.

7. Supervision

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Make sure to extinguish candles before leaving a room or going to sleep.

8. Distance

Keep candles out of reach of children, flammable materials and pets to prevent accidental knocks or burns.

9. Burn Time

Do not burn candles for more than 4 hours at a time. Allow the candle to cool for two hours before relighting to avoid overheating the container.
