​Sophisticated has been founded mid August 2024 and to give some insights on the how and why, I need to take you back a few years ago.

 

In late 2018, I met my husband Mike in Belgium while he was working as an expat. Six months later, he had to return and we found ourselves in a long-distance relationship that was further challenged by Covid, causing us to go months without seeing each other.

 

Like many of us, Covid and the lockdowns brought out our artistic sides and we discovered hidden talents. My husband became passionate about the art of blacksmithing and working with leather. His passion was contagious, and I found myself getting more and more involved in his hobby. It brought us closer together despite the 4,800 miles that separated us. Our interests continued to grow: we delved into the art of candle making and created original handmade home décor creations.

 

Fast forward to 2024: after two long years of waiting, my visa application was finally approved! I then quit my job as a Key Account Manager in Belgium, gave away my belongings, and hopped on a plane. Not long after, Sophisticated was founded.

 

Sophisticated specializes in handmade home accessories. We offer the option to personalize all our products where possible. We also strive to do as much as we can in-house and minimize the outsourcing, such as website design, creating & printing labels, sewing, engraving, etching glass and making cement : we do it in-house 1 We are constantly looking for new original products to add to our range, so be sure to keep an eye on our site!
